Crash ends Blue Springs robbery suspect’s attempt to escape

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — Police chased an armed robbery suspect Thursday afternoon until the person crashed near I-70 and Noland Rd.

Rhonda Montgomery with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said an off-duty Independence police officer saw the robbery of a Radio Shack at 7 Hwy and Consumer Rd. in Blue Springs.

The off-duty officer tried to pull over the suspect’s car.¬†Instead of stopping, the driver took off and the officer followed the driver for about two miles, until the driver crashed the car on Noland Road, south of the interstate.

Independence crashOther cars were also involved in the crash.

The suspect was injured, but police are not releasing the severity of the injuries.
