KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police were called to the scene of a double homicide Tuesday morning at about 9 a.m. at the Suntree Plaza Apartments, where they found two men dead in a hallway.
The men were found in a lower level hallway near the laundry room.
One of them was 17-year-old Earnest Stamps, according to the boy's mother.
"They called talking about Ernest is dead, he ain't breathing," Bernadette Johnson said. "I know how other parents feel when their kids get taken away by guns. I never thought I'd be in this situation, but I am."
As police canvased the area, they found a third victim inside the Suntree Apartments.
Police said they discovered the man grazed in his side by a bullet about two hours after they arrived on the scene
The apartment complex is at Suntree Plaza and County Line Road. It's about half a mile south of Thomas A. Edison Elementary School.
Police were trying to contain the situation and people at the scene. Some were yelling at officers, including Stamps' aunt, who crossed police crime scene tape and was restrained by officers.
Police said they still do not have any suspect information.
