KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Just four days after they made him their 1st pick, and 8th overall in the MLB draft, the Kansas City Royals signed Hunter Dozier to a contract on Monday.

Dozier is now set to start playing baseball in the Royals minor league system by first reporting to the team’s training camp facility in Surprise, Arizona immediately.

“I am going to work as hard as I can, and play as hard as I can,” Dozier said at a Monday afternoon press conference at Kauffman Stadium. “Whatever happens at the end of the day is what happens.”

Dozier is 21-years old, and the Royals are undecided as to what exact position he will be groomed to play. Dozier signed for a reported $2.2 million signing bonus.
