Leawood suspect finally arrested in K.C. North

KANSAS CITY, Mo — It was a long night for some officers in Kansas City North in a standoff with a suspect from Leawood, Kan.

At approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday night, Leawood police were called out to a report of a person with a knife.

An hour later, Kansas City police officers located the suspect’s car parked outside a residence near N.E. 52nd Street and Troost Ave.

They called an Operation 100 and continued negotiations with the suspect until after 4 a.m., when the suspect surrendered.
