KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County Assessment Department sent out a letter this week telling property owners to expect a Revised Reassessment Notice. The department admitted that the original 2013 notices had errors but an independent consultant says it’s worse than first determined.

In some cases, property owners received values that had increased by as much as 40 to 50 percent.

The department received 18,000 appeals but now it looks like as many as 68,000 property values were incorrect.

The assessment department has extended the deadline for the appeal process and they have also extended their office hours.
