KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police say a 29-year-old man was shot in the head as he was driving down Interstate-635 and State Avenue late Wednesday morning. The victim told police that two white men in a black Ford F-150 pick-up truck pulled up next to him and opened fire.

His injuries are not considered life threatening despite a bullet striking him in the head. The shooters allegedly fired four rounds at the victim, the motive behind the shooting is a mystery.

"It could be anything, could be random, could be road rage you know he might've passed somebody. You don't know," Joan Shatto, the victim's grandmother, told FOX 4.

Two southbound lanes of I-635 closed while police investigated the shooting that happened at about 11:00 a.m. The victim is recovering in the hospital, family says they expect he'll be there for two to three more days. They also say they need help apprehending the shooters.

"I just hope and pray that they catch the person. I would hope that whoever, if there were any witnesses, please call the TIPS hotline or police. Justice needs to be done," Lucinda Shatto, the victim's mother, said.
