MISSION, Kan. —┬áSummer is here and even five weeks after graduation, top student-athletes around the metro continue to be honored.

The Kenneth L. and Eva S. Smith Foundation award both a male and female high school golfer annually in the Greater Kansas City area. Friends and family watched as recent Shawnee Mission East graduate, Chase Hanna, was presented the award at SME for his outstanding achievements during his career and senior season.

Chase was a three-time Sunflower League Champion, a two-time Regional Champion, and finished top-ten three times at the State tournament. In the classroom, Chase maintained a 3.99 GPA, placing him on the school’s academic honor roll all four years.

Chase will continue on to the University of Kansas this fall as a student-athlete on the Jayhawk golf team.
