KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Sporting Kansas City announced that Graham Zusi signed a new contract on Friday. The terms are undisclosed per team policy.

“Kansas City is like home for me and I am excited to be able to continue playing for this outstanding club, fans and city. Our goal is to win championships and I will do whatever it takes to achieve that with this team,” Zusi said in a press release.

Zusi leads Sporting KC in assists this year with five and is second in goals with three. He has also helped the U.S. Men’s National Team to the top of its hexagonal group in World Cup qualifying, appearing in five of the six matches. Including friendly matches, Zusi has logged 529 minutes with the USMNT this year tallying two assists.

“Graham has become an integral part of our club and league over the past five years and we look forward to his contributions for years to come,” Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman said.

Zusi was originally selected 23rd overall in the second round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. Last year he was named one of Major League Soccer’s best XI and finished as an MVP finalist. He and Sporting KC will face the Columbus Crew on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Sporting Park.
