Salads often get a bad wrap for being boring and tasteless. But this Summer, kick your summer greens up a notch!  Liz Kampschroeder showed us how to make some four different salads that are fully of flavor and nutrients.  She also gave us some tips for picking the right produce and keeping the costs down.

Summer Salad Tips:

Plan ahead: Cut up fruits and veggies ahead of time, store in ziplock bags or containers

Buy in Bulk: (Costco, Sams Club) Aldi-fresh produce with delivery every other day.

Purchase in-season produce. It keeps the cost down.

Early summer is peak for strawberries, blueberries, asparagus

Hit the farmers market on Wednesdays and Saturdays

Shop early in the day, avoid the weekends so foods are not picked over

Improvise ingredients. Use what you have on hand. Follow the recipe once then make it your own by adding or taking out ingredients

Make double the salad and keep half to eat at home if heading out to a party

Dress the salad right before serving so ingredients don't wilt
