Tips to make college transition easier

Eric Grospitch, assistant dean of students in the division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at University of Missouri-Kansas City shared tips for students and parents to make the transition to college a little easier.

TIPS:

Know your finances
Financial aid
Bookstore charges
Fees
Work

Know your schedule
Expect 2-3 hours of studying each week for each hour spent in class
Communicate that with family members

Take a full load
30 hours per year

Get involved
Student organizations
Campus jobs
Leadership positions

Diversify
Global economy
Changing demographics
Get to know people that are different than you, and have different life experiences
