KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Gunfire broke out Friday afternoon outside a barber shop near 43rd and Indiana in Kansas City, Mo.
The victim was sitting inside a white SUV waiting to get his haircut when another man walked up to it and opened fire with a rifle.
The victim, described only by police as a black man in his early 20s, was hit multiple times and was listed in critical condition.
The suspect escaped, while the victim managed to get inside to the barbershop, where he waited for help. Police say he was conscious when they arrived. His condition quickly deteriorated to critical, however.
"We believe the suspect at least initially left on foot, so just checking out the addresses in the neighborhood and making sure everybody's okay," said police.
Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s or 30s, light, brown skin, with his hair in corn rows.
