University of Kansas Hospital ranked nationally

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The University of Kansas Hospital is nationally ranked by US News and World Report.  The results released Tuesday rank 50 hospitals in each of 16 medical specialties.  

The University of Kansas Hospital ranked in nine specialties including No. 27 for cancer,  No. 23 for cardiology and No. 17 for pulmonary.   

US News and World Report rank the hospitals based on nurse staffing, patient survival and a national survey by doctors.

The rankings are meant to help guide patients who need a high level of care.

The University of Kansas Hospital was ranked No. 1 on the list of hospitals in Kansas, while St. Luke’s South in Overland Park ranked third on the list.
