The president of the Negro League's museum is expected to ask the Kansas City City Council for $500,000.

Bob Kendrick sent out a tweet last night asking people to wish him luck. The money will be used to complete the Buck O'Neil Education and Research center at the YMCA where the negro national league was formed in 1920.

Kendrick tweeted:

"Big day tomorrow. I'll present to the City of KC's Finance Committee. At stake? $500k in support of the Buck O'Neil Ctr. Wish me luck!"

O'Neil was the founder of the museum and played with the KC Monarchs. The Negro League's museum was declared the nation's official museum by congress in 2006.
