KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Royals had an off day on Monday, but are well aware that Wednesday’s no-waiver trade deadline for Major League Baseball is fast approaching.

The Royals currently stand seven games behind an also idle Detroit Tiger team, and with just 60 games left on their schedule, Royals fans wonder if their team is a buyer in the trade market, or a seller.

Starting pitcher Ervin Santana has been rumored as the most likely trade prospect for the team, and he’s well aware of that fact. Santana is taking his status with the team in stride, even posting a video on YouTube recently, knowing that he might be the target of another team, and certainly of trade rumors.

The Royals open a 3-game series in Minnesota with the Twins on Tuesday, and then move on to New York for a weekend series with the Mets starting Friday.

Santana gets the pitching start on Tuesday against the Twins.

The Royals have a .500 record, with 51 win and 51 loses, for the first time this late in the season since 2003.
