As expected some did better than others, and there are some that wished they had more, and probably others, mostly outside the viewing area that have had enough…but this was a good rain for us and the rainfall totals bear out the forecast and blog from a couple of days ago and now we’re just stuck in the yuck with clouds/mist and even still a few showers in the area.

Let’s first start with the rain totals…and these are over the past 48 hours…generally close to 3/4″-1 1/2″ for most area.

Now let’s go north of the river…

Here is a look at the doppler rainfall estimates…and you can see the areas that had the most rain…this is from the radar in Topeka.

Flood warnings are still in effect from Emporia to Salina…they had 5-9″ of rain down there from this system! Meanwhile to the NW of KC, there were 1-3″ rain totals as well…

The latest weather map shows a weak area of low pressure right on top of the region with a wealth of clouds in the area as well…

We may not be done with the rain either…several more opportunities will be with us through the late week and into at least part of the weekend as the boundry between the heat and the cooler air will be close by and with us in NW flow…any ripple come comes down through the Plains will trigger areas of rain/storms…how they hold together will be a question though, so while a rainout of a weekend is not expected…again the potential is there for some rainfall.

Meanwhile the other story I think about the weather is the marked difference between this July and last July…check out where we stand through yesterday.

Now compare it to LAST July…

What a change, and when you get your power bills you should notice at least some savings this time through!

Have a great rest of the day and enjoy the cooler days!
