Police: Fetus found in trash truck was premature birth
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s office said a baby’s body found Monday morning by sanitation workers is that of a fetus approximately 29 to 34 weeks old.
“It is believed this was a premature home birth,” police said, adding it was a boy. The race of the baby cannot be determined, the medical examiner said.
The fetus was found in the 2800 block of Campbell after sanitation workers told authorities they noticed a baby’s arm sticking out of trash in the back of the truck.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the mother. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS if you knew someone who may have been pregnant recently and is no longer.
