Pregnant woman stabbed in stomach, survives, baby delivered at hospital

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. – A woman gave birth to her child by cesarean section after being stabbed at a truck stop on Wednesday morning. KTVI reports that the 30-year-old woman and a her friend  were arguing with another man at Ranger Truck Stop when that man stabbed her in the stomach.

Police arrested Mark A. Downing, 28, for the stabbing after a brief struggle with him. The child and mother are being treated at the hospital.

Downing, originally from Terre Haute, Ind., is being held in the Pulaski County Jail and has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault. His bond has been set at $1,000,000 cash only according to online court records, no court date has been set.
