Missing Missouri hiker found dead in Utah canyon

CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK, Utah — A 73-year-old missing hiker from Missouri was found dead on Saturday in Canyonlands National Park in Utah.

Authorities said the man was hiking alone. Reports indicated the man had planned to be out of the canyon July 28. He was reported missing Friday.

It’s unclear how long the man had been dead or what the cause of death was. His identity has not yet been released.

The area where the hiker’s body was found is called Horseshoe Canyon and is famous for its American Indian rock art.
