KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A 41-year-old woman has just returned to her Kansas City, Kan. home with four medals she earned in track and field.

Barb Sheble competed in the Transplant Games in South Africa. Every competitor is a transplant survivor.

Four years ago Sheble received a new heart.

Now she's definitely strong enough to exert herself with the shot put, the javelin, the ball throw and the discus. She won a bronze, two silvers and a gold in them respectively.

But it was meeting the other athletes that really moved Sheble.

"Yes I'm a competitive person and yes I wanted to win medals," said Sheble. "But to see all the people out there who have received a second chance and are there just competing they're doing the best that they can do. You may not throw real far. You may not run real fast but you're there and if you hadn't got that gift you would not be here anymore."
