Suspicious package and shooting in KCK

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police were called out to 38th and Greeley Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., Thursday afternoon for reports of a shooting. A black male in his 20s suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.  The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. Police are asking anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816.474.TIPS (8477).

Also Thursday afternoon, Kansas City, Kan., police were closing off streets as federal authorities investigated a suspicious package left outside the federal building at 500 State Ave.

Shortly before 3 p.m. investigators determined the envelope that was found was not dangerous.
