PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. - A Prairie Village woman, who doesn't want to be identified, returned home after running a few errands and found a stranger in her home, stealing her belongings. Now police are looking for the burglar.
"He parked right in the driveway," she said. "I knew something odd was going on."
She walked in.
"I wasn't thinking. It was not the smartest thing to do, but I opened the garage door and turned off the alarm, and that's when I knew he was in the basement," the woman explained.
The woman says she exchanged words with the burglar and saw his blonde hair.
"Young, probably about 18, fit, fit kid, just looked like a really nice kid. Not somebody that you'd suspect would do that," the woman said.
"He was calm though, which is the interesting thing. He wasn't afraid," she explained.
Prairie Village police say that is odd behavior for a burglar caught in the act.
"Normally the person is a little hurried," said Sgt. Byron Roberson from the Prairie Village Police Department.
Now police are looking for the person who broke into this woman's home by looking for his car, a four-door black Acura sedan. They say the suspect is a white man in his late teens to early 20s with blonde hair. If you have any information call Prairie Village Police or the TIPS Hotline at 816.474.TIPS (8477).
