Rat infestation shuts down Family Dollar store

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Health Department has temporarily closed a Family Dollar store located at 1201 E. Meyer Boulevard after a third inspection revealed no improvement from a rat infestation. A health inspector found rat hair, urine and feces on store shelves according to press release from the department.

The release also said that food, soap and pet food packages had been chewed open. The store will remain closed until it passes a follow-up inspection and takes appropriate pest control measures.
