KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City police responded to a rollover accident on Wednesday evening that has resulted in one death. The ramp from WB I-70 to SB I-435 was closed but has reopened after emergency crews held an initial investigation and cleaned up the crash scene. The deceased was identified as an adult male.

“Initially it looks like the driver lost control and the vehicle flipped over, it’s possible his load might have shifted,” KCPD Sgt. Bill Mahoney said.

The vehicle involved is a box truck owned Penske Truck Rental. No details aside from the victim’s gender have been released. Despite the crash happening around rush hour, traffic wasn’t heavily impacted, but the clean up took a substantial amount of time.

“It’s going to be closed for a substantial period. Off loading the property that was being transported in the truck alone will take several hours,” Mahoney said.
