Fisherman discovers man’s body in Kansas River

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The body of a man was recovered from the Kansas River on Monday. Police believe it is the 44-year-old who went missing around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officers were told the man had been swimming in the river near Interstate 435 and Woodend Road in Edwardsville, Kan., when he went missing. Officers, with assistance from other agencies, searched for several hours on Sunday, but were unable to local him.

On Monday, around 12:40 p.m., police were called to the area of 59th and Lance and K-32 on reports of a body in the river. Police said a man fishing in the area discovered the body.

The identity of the victim will not be released pending positive identification and family notification.
