Man accused of shooting Kansas police officer arrested

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. — The man suspected of shooting and injuring a Butler County, Kan., sheriff’s officer on Labor Day has been arrested.

Police arrested Jan Kilbourne around 3 a.m. Friday in Wichita, Kan.

Police said they received a tip that led to his arrest. When officers located him, Kilbourne took off running in an alley, but police caught up with and arrested him.

Kilbourne is accused of shooting and injuring the officer during a traffic stop. Two others were taken into custody at that time.
