Water department employee seriously shocked during repair work

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One water department worker was the victim of a serious electrical shock on Sunday afternoon. The injured man was working in tandem with another worker replacing a valve on a 12-inch water line according to FOX 4's Sharita Hutton.

Kansas City firefighters found the two workers in a trench just before 3 p.m. at the 5200 block of Sycamore Drive. The shocked worker was taken to a hospital but has since been released. The other worker was not seriously injured.

The main repair had been ongoing since Saturday and the water department is investigating incident. They had ordered the electricity to be shut off so that the repair work could be completed.
