INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – A traffic fatality occurred in Independence on Tuesday morning after an accident involving a passenger car and SUV killed one of the passengers. The Independence Police department stated in a release that a Chrysler Sebring was traveling southbound on Noland Road and attempted to turn into a private driveway when it was struck by a northbound Dodge Durango.

The passenger in the Sebring, a 76-year-old woman, was taken by ambulance to a hospital where she died due to the injuries she suffered in the crash. Both drivers were injured, but those injuries were considered minor and they were not taken to a hospital.

The woman’s name has not yet been released and the accident is still under investigation. It was raining at the time of the crash but investigators haven’t determined how great a role those conditions played or if there were other contributing factors.
