Dance Theatre of Harlem: Still dancing after 44 years

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Founded in 1969, the Dance Theatre of Harlem is still considered to be one of ballet's most exciting undertakings, inspiring and allowing children to learn about dance and the allied arts.

Now in its fifth decade of dancing, the company is bringing the passion of dance to young children in Kansas City.

Virginia Johnson, founding member of the theatre, former prima ballerina and now artistic director appeared on Thursday's FOX 4 Morning Show to talk about the dance theatre and its future.

The Harriman-Jewell Series is bringing The Dance Theatre of Harlem, which will host a lecture and demonstration titled Dancers on Dancing for students on Tuesday. Classes are free, but reservations are required.  To reserve a spot, call (816) 931-2299
