KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Two women who were injured in a rollover accident on the Lewis and Clark viaduct on Thursday have been identified as Voreecesa Pierro, 36, and Mercedes Stewart, 21.

Police said the Pierro was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer, traveling east on I-70 when she lost control and hit the inside concrete divider. The vehicle then rolled and spun across three lanes of traffic, ejecting Stewart. The vehicle came to rest with its back tires hanging over the concrete railing. It’s estimated the drop below is 50-60 feet.

Pierro was wearing a safety belt. Stewart was not. Both were taken to Truman Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Weather may be partially to blame.
