SHAWNEE, Kan. -- A youth football team in Shawnee Mission, Kan. has shown support for a teammate in a very visual and moving way.

Fourth grade wide receiver Sam Baty, 9, suffers from Alopecia Areata and Hashimoto's Disease, which have caused him to lose his hair.

"His body thinks that he's the problem and it's attacking him and he's starting to lose his hearing and sight, so he'll probably need a hearing aid soon, and he's bald," explained Mehki Knight, Sam's friend and teammate.

On picture day, the team showed up with their helmets on and then in unison, removed them for Sam to see.

"He was just like, 'Whoa, you did that?'" remembered another friend, Ezekiel Greenwald.

Sam said he's known some of his teammates for more than five years and he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"When they took their helmets off, it was really surprising to see what they had done," Sam said.
