Khalid Ouazzani sentenced to 14 years in federal prison

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Kansas City man who pleaded guilty to sending money to an organization with terrorist ties is on his way to federal prison.

Khalid Ouazzani had admitted swearing allegiance to al-Qaida and sending the organization more than $20,000. A federal judge sentenced him to 14 years in federal prison on Monday.

Ouazzani pleaded guilty more than three years ago to swearing an oath of allegiance to al-Qaida. He used his business, Truman Used Auto Parts, as a conduit to send the terrorist organization money. He had faced 65 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
