Police: Man tries to flee cops, kills woman at Prairie Village stop light

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. -- A Prairie Village woman was killed Friday afternoon when a man fleeing from police ran into her as she sat at a stop light. The crash happened around 1 p.m. at 75th and Roe in Prairie Village, Kan. A total of four cars were involved in the accident.

Police said the driver of a black Mercedes was seen speeding on 75th Street. An officer in the area attempted to pull the driver over, but the driver sped away. The police officer suspended his pursuit and notified authorities that the suspect vehicle did not stop. As the officer came over a hill, he saw four cars involved in an accident. According to police, the driver of the suspect vehicle tried to run from the scene, but was caught in a nearby yard and arrested.

Two other people involved suffered minor injuries.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased and her family. She was an amazing person, one who brought smiles to the faces of everyone she knew. The Lord is definitely getting an amazing angel today. Rest in Peace.

    My husband and boys were involved in this accident. It is so tragic and sad. I cant stop thinking about this woman and her family. I was there when the husband came onto the scene, and will never forget that man’s sorrow. My heart and prayers go out to the family.
