Teenager dies while visiting University of Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. — A teenager visiting the University of Missouri from Highland, Illinois was found by police unconscious and not breathing on Sunday morning. The University of Missouri Police Department stated in a release that Gregory Gerard Holthaus, 18, died at University Hospital after attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Police indicated that emergency crews responded to the emergency in the Pershing group of residence halls at about 9 a.m. on Sunday. Holthaus is not a student at Missouri but was a guest of a current student.

An investigation into Holthaus’ death in ongoing. At this time police said that there have been no signs of foul play and an official cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
