Case Keenum will start at quarterback for the Houston Texans Sunday against the Chiefs. Houston coach Gary Kubiak ruled out starter Matt Schaub on Thursday. Schaub was injured in the Texans’ loss at St. Louis last Sunday. Backup T.J. Yates replaced Schaub and threw a pair of interceptions.

Keenum is in his second year in the NFL. He spent his rookie season on the Texans’ practice squad. He began this season as the third-string QB and was inactive for the first six games.

The Kansas Jayhawks will begin the 2013-14 basketball season ranked sixth in the USA Today Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Kentucky sits atop the poll, followed by Michigan State, defending national champion Louisville, Duke and Arizona. Oklahoma State (Number 12) is the only other Big 12 team in the poll. Wichita State is ranked at number 16 coming off the school’s appearance in the Final Four where they lost to Louisville in one of the national semi-finals.
