KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- No-show wedding photographer Mario Antoine heads to jail Monday. Antoine, who was convicted of nine felony counts of stealing from brides, will serve 30 days behind bars.

The judge suspended the rest of his 13-month sentence, saying he wanted Antoine back in the workforce so he could reimburse the brides he stole from. Antoine has one year to repay $4,900 to the five brides and will be on probation for five years.

Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Bob Schieber had harsh words for Antoine during the sentence, saying he had shown no remorse for taking money from brides and then providing none of the services they paid for. Many of them did not discover they had been ripped off until their wedding day.

Expensive weddings are such a waste of money. Many young folks take on huge debt for a one day affair. It would be much smarter to have a small wedding and save the money for something more sensible.

I am so grateful that he is heading to jail. Justice is served. He scammed us out of $250 then never showed up for engagement photos. Disgusting. Glad that we did not realize it too late.
