KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Officers with KCPD are at the scene where two people have been shot on the 3500 block of Prospect Friday afternoon. The incident happened at about 2 p.m. and Chief Forte tweeted that one victim was shot multiple times and has suffered serious injuries after the shooting inside a business.

Police said that the victim was being chased by two men who were shooting at him. Police have found dozens of shell casings between 35th and 36th Street along Prospect Avenue. Police are still interviewing witnesses and hoping to learn more from video cameras from local businesses about what actually took place.

FOX 4 spoke with a regular customer who said he was surprised it happened at Authentic Cuts Barbershop. Police aren't sure exactly where the shooting started but found several shell casings inside the barbershop. KCPD said it was fortunate more people weren't hurt.

"35th and Prospect is a very busy area. (There are) lots of vehicles driving through here, lots of pedestrian traffic, very fortunate that more people weren't struck," Sgt. Derek McCollum said.

The victim is presently in critical condition and police are looking for two black males who were suspected in the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
