Chad D. Terry Jr. (Left) and Charles T Carr III (right) have both been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Erik Schwartz's death.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A second man implicated in the death of Erik Schwartz may have not pulled the trigger, but faces the same charges that were filed on Friday against Chad Terry Jr. The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Saturday that Charles T. Carr III, 23, has also been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Schwartz was found dead outside of his home on the 400 block of North Grand last Wednesday with a gunshot wound to his head. An initial investigation sought two men who were seen fleeing the scene and an anonymous tip helped led police to both Terry and Carr.

Multiple witnesses have implicated Terry as the shooter according to probable cause statements and it appears that Carr was the second individual who was seen fleeing the scene with him. Witnesses have also said they believed the motive for the confrontation with Schwartz was robbery.

Carr’s bond has been set at $250,000 and he and Terry are expected to be arraigned on Monday.
