Relatives arrested after four-year-old is found high on marijuana at school
EDMOND, Okla. — A four-year-old pre-kindergarten student’s classmates noticed something wrong with his eyes and demeanor on Friday, and it was discovered he may have been exposed to marijuana. When the young boy’s grandmother and great-aunt came to pick him up, they admitted to smoking marijuana around him before school.
Affiliate KFOR reports that officers who were called in by the boy’s teacher commented that his clothing smelled of the drug and his classmates also said he was acting very tired. Fifty three-year-old Sandra Martinez (the grandmother) and 52-year-old Peggy Pierman (the great-aunt) were arrested by officers who were waiting for them at the school.
They were booked on charges for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The young boy had stayed at his grandmother’s house on the Thursday night before the incident. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services released him back to his mother, she was reportedly not involved in the incident.
