BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A man who opened his doors to two homeless men for Thanksgiving dinner probably wishes they hadn’t invited an unknown third transient guest. According to affiliate KDVR, the unidentified third man stabbed host Brendan Hayes’ hands multiple times after an argument.

A news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office states that a 911 call was made at about 5 p.m. on Thursday after the group’s conversation devolved into a disagreement that got physical. The suspected stabber picked up a kitchen knife and started threatening Hayes.

Hayes put his hands up to defend himself and was slashed. The assailant fled the home before deputies with the sheriff’s office arrived to the home. Despite being homeless, the release states he had a quick means of escape in a yellow four-door sedan.

Hayes was transported to a hospital and treated for multiple cuts. KDVR reports that he did not know the man who stabbed him.
