OLATHE, Kan. – Police were led on a high speed chase after they received a call regarding a robbery of an adult sex shop in Olathe, shortly after noon, on Saturday.
According to the Olathe Police Department’s press release, when officers arrived at the Cirillas, located in the 1800 block of east Santa Fe Street, they learned a man, said to be armed with a handgun, had allegedly entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. The man then supposedly left the building with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Olathe police later located the suspect’s vehicle and began to pursue him, with assistance from several other surrounding jurisdictions and the Kansas Highway Patrol. The subject hit several other cars during the approximately 30 minute chase, and eventually crashed his vehicle near 11th Street and Grandview Blvd., in Kansas City, Kan., and was then taken into custody.
Police said no one was injured in the alleged robbery or chase with the exception of the suspect, who had minor cuts and bruises but refused medical treatment. The suspect is being detained over the weekend in the Wyandotte County Jail. The suspect is awaiting a list of charges, including aggravated robbery among many others.
