Man pinned between two tractor trailers dies

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – A man died after being pinned between two tractor trailers, Independence police said Tuesday.

The accident, which is being investigated by police, happened just after noon Tuesday at the CDC Distribution Center located at 16500 E. Truman Road.

Witnesses said the man, who was operating a tractor trailer, had gotten out of the vehicle when it began a slow roll backward toward another tractor trailer. The man allegedly tried to stop the trailer from rolling using physical force, but soon after was pinned between the two trailers.

Police said the man, who was a 63-year-old resident of Ontario, Canada, was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

The identity of the man will not be released until his family has been notified.
