ATLANTA, Ga. — Auburn running back Tre Mason wore down the Missouri defense, racking up 304 yards rushing to lead his team to a 59-42 victory in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday. Missouri arrived in Atlanta with one of the toughest defenses in the country, but Auburn gashed the Tigers for 545 yards rushing. It was a shootout for three quarters. Auburn led 45-42 going into the fourth quarter, and the Tigers from the West division dominated the Tigers from the East division the rest of the way. Mason scored two touchdowns in the final 15 minutes and finished the game with four TDs.

Auburn (12-1) earns the SEC’s automatic BCS bid, and is guaranteed at least a spot in the Sugar Bowl. The Tigers could end up playing No. 1 Florida State in the BCS national championship game. Missouri (11-2) awaits an invitation from either the Capital One Bowl, the Outback Bowl or the Cotton Bowl.
