OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Twenty-one sixth graders were selected for a field trip known as Operation Rudolph. It's a holiday event that sends students shopping with Overland Park police officers to buy Christmas gifts.

You didn't have to follow the kids around for long before you noticed they weren't spending the money on themselves, but on family members.

"These kids are very humble, wonderful kids," said Capt. Rick Castillo with the Overland Park Police Department. "They do think of other people before themselves and some of the officers had to really prompt them, 'Hey, don't forget about yourself.'"

FOX 4's Eric Burke tagged along during the shopping spree. Watch his video to see more of this story.
