Two arrested in death of Liberty man

LIBERTY, Mo. — Two people were taken into custody after a Clay County Sheriff’s deputy found the body of a man at a park at Smithville Lake.

Police and family believe the body is that of Mark Thomas, 58, who was reported missing by his family Saturday morning.

Family members had found his vehicle in a trailer park at 8801 N.E. 107th Terrace and when police investigated, they suspected he was the victim of a homicide.

The cause of death or details of the suspected crime have not been released by police.
