RIVERSIDE, Calif. — A volunteer dog rescuer in California is accused of stealing a puppy from a little girl with leukemia.
Shawna Hammond called police when the woman she said she entrusted to deliver the puppy to a family friend in northern California whose daughter was battling leukemia, kept the dog for herself.
The little girl had asked for a pug puppy for Christmas and Hammond, who has a pug herself who helped her through her own cancer battle, found one for her.
But, Hammond was afraid the little girl would never meet Mooshoo, the 12-week old adorable pug.
“I just can’t believe she did what she did,” Hammond said.
More than a month after Mooshoo’s disappearance, police officers finally got Mooshoo back, according to KCAL News in California.
The woman who Hammond said took the pup has not been arrested.
