How to sign up for Target’s free credit monitoring

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Many people are concerned that any day they could look at their bank statement and discover they’ve been a victim of the Target hackers.

To avoid the worry and financial crisis, Target is offering free credit monitoring for a year and identity theft protection for all customers who shopped in their U.S. stores.

Target announced last week that millions of more customers were affected by the massive data breach than they originally knew. For more information, visit Corporate.Target.com.

Stolen information includes names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.

Target is using ProtectMyID, by credit monitoring company Experian to help customers monitor any activity on their credit reports.

Customers must visit Creditmonitoring.target.com to request  an activation code.  Users will be emailed a code within five days of the request.  Customers have until April 30 to redeem the code.
