Police identify man gunned down near KCK City Hall

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police identified the man shot and killed in a stairwell in Kansas City, Kan., Thursday afternoon as Marlon J. Williams, 40.

Police said Williams was gunned down in a stairwell between the Wyandotte County Health Department and the Kansas City, Kan., City Hall building shortly after 3 p.m.

Williams was originally transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to his head.

Sergeant Emmett Lockridge said in addition to talking to people in the area, police reviewed surveillance footage.

On Thursday police released photos from surveillance video of two individuals they were interested in talking to, but Friday morning police said they identified the pair and determined there were not involved. Police have not released any other suspect information at this time.
