RAYTOWN, Mo. -- Cold weather is to blame for a number of water main breaks throughout the metro. Seven have reportedly ruptured in the last 24 hours.

FOX 4's Matt Stewart was at 350 Highway and Maple Avenue Tuesday morning where crews were working to replace a line that burst on Monday.

In Kansas City, some of the water pipes are 140 years old. The City of Kansas City is hoping to have $500 million in bonds approved by voters in April. The money would go toward replacing water mains.
