A 1968 Camaro, stolen from a man who restored it on his own in OKC.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Police are looking for the people who ransacked a home in Oklahoma City over the weekend and stole two cars, one an especially precious 1968 restored Chevy Camaro.

The stolen Camaro is valued at least $85,000, but the owner says it’s worth a lot more than that in memories.

“It’s a 1968 Camaro. There are not too many of them and this one was mine,” said the owner Billy Hare. “It was special.”

Billy Hare owns several Camaros from the 1960’s, but the missing car he personally rebuilt by hand with his son-in-law.

“It has a lot of value both monetarily and sentimentally,” said Hare. “I started from scratch with it and rebuilt it with all new parts into a new car.”

The suspect also stole Hare’s Cadillac Escalade.

With the help of OnStar, investigators were able to recover Billy’s Escalade just a short time after the theft.┬áInside the SUV came a key piece of evidence.

“We were able to find a receipt in the vehicle and found the suspect had gone through a drive-thru at a fast food restaurant and left the receipt in the car,” Oklahoma City police MSgt. Gary Knight told KFOR-TV.

Police say the suspect visited the drive-thru of a Jack In the Box.

Surveillance video shows the alleged thief lean out the window of the stolen Escalade.

Billy now has one goal.

“The main thing is I want to get my car back and get the guy caught,” said Hare.

Because two cars were stolen, the victim has reason to think more than one person committed the crime.

In addition to the cars, the victim also had several guns and electronics stolen from his home.
