BOLIVAR, Mo. -- A young man will spend the next 15 years behind bars after plotting to shoot up a Missouri Walmart and movie theater.

A judge sentenced 21-year-old Blake Lammers to 15 years after he pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Authorities said Lammers planned to open first at a showing of a Twilight movie back in November of 2012.

His mother called police saying she feared he was planning an attack. She said she was hoping the system would help him rather than send him to jail.

"Yes, he has a personality disorder, so does that justify that we send him to prison because he's a little bit different?" she said. "I don't think it means that we send him away because. He's different. I think we find him help."

Who’s to say she didn’t try to get help? I do not know all of the facts but what I do know is we need to get a handle on the mentally ill. I wished to God I knew the answer.

Mom should have been getting him help when he was a little kid, not waiting til he was an adult and trying to fix what was already to far gone to fix. Blaming everyone else for your problems IS part of a mental disorder and apparently its hereditary, as this mother obviously refuses to take the blame for not doing so. Even she went to police rather than social services and Department of mental health with the problem. So she IS to blame for his going to jail just as much as his actions could have been. Thankfully he didnt go in with 30 charges of Murder. Who would she blame then? The popcorn vendors at the theater?

It seems that she should have been seeking help before then. I’m not sure what kind of help that she actually sought before this. I know quite a few people with personality disorder. It’s not just that this guy is just different, he is dangerous. Dangerous people are put away. I’m not tracking how she feels society should have sought him help…
